Last year the Crossroads program paired over 30 local youth ages 8-18 with Greenville College students who served as mentors. A Crossroads "big brother" or "big sister" can have many different roles in a child's life. Sometimes being a mentor means helping with homework or filling out a job application. At other times being a mentor might mean working out together or getting coffee. But at all times, being a mentor means being a friend. It means listening and encouraging and growing together.

Participating in Crossroads is one of the greatest things you can do during your years at Greenville College. All it requires is a year-long commitment and willingness to give of your time on a weekly basis. Crossroads operates during the school year (September - June) and you are expected to spend between 1-3 hours a week with your "little brother" or "little sister". If you're worried because you're not sure you'll be able to come up with things to do with your "little," just show up at The Simple Room. We will have group activities and games planned. We also have supplies for art activities, musical instruments, sports and games equipment, and homework/studying space. Last year some of our activities and trips included: bonfires, Eckert's Family Fun Farm, pumpkin carving, Thanksgiving and Christmas parties, midnight skiing/snowboarding, and more.
We are about kick things off for another school year, which means we need YOU to volunteer your time as a mentor. This can be an extremely valuable experience for you and your "little brother" or "little sister." It's even more fun if you get a group of friends to volunteer together, plan activities with, and hold each other accountable to the commitment you've made. So try to get a few friends together and contact us as soon as possible is you're interested in joining our team of mentors. You can contact us through our website, by phone or e-mail, or by Facebook.
