Dance Crew Performs at GC Halftime On Wednesday, December 1st The Simple Room performed during the half-time of the Greenville College mens varsity basketball game versus Blackburn College. The crew danced to a compilation of several hip hop songs. The routine was choreographed by program instructor, Amy Jo Russell, and featured several individual performances and tumbling tricks. Brian Bell flipped over four teammates at the close of the routine. The performance was met with a standing ovation from the audience packed into the home team stands. Stephanie Hill, a former Greenville College student and Simple Room intern, started the dance program in 2007 during her sophomore year of college. She began by giving weekly dance lessons to Simple Room youth and eventually the crew was formed and performances were scheduled. Last year Stephanie led the crew in their first half-time performance during a GC mens basketball game. Amy Jo Russell assumed leadership of the program upon Stephanie's graduation in May. Amy worked diligently with the crew throughout the fall semester to help them prepare for this performance.
We are so proud of the members of our dance crew and Amy Jo Russell, Kate Leenerts, and Kristen Morgan for their commitment to leading the group. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to stay updated on spring performance dates and locations. |
