We are preparing for our FIFTH annual summer reading program, which we offer to students in Kindergarden through Eighth grade. The program is titled “Project 24,” because it operates three days a week for eight weeks. Each student receives three hours of reading instruction per week, or 24 hours of instruction over the course of the summer. We also challenge students to log 24 hours of individual or partner reading.
Our goal is to support 65 Students funded by $65 over 65 days. All gifts of $65 will help a local child participate in our summer reading program.
We are passionate about helping our students become lifelong readers, but we won’t be able to do it without your help. There are critical ways that you can help us. First, we need volunteers. We enroll a maximum of 65 students in Kindergarden through Eighth grade, and we divide them into three age groups. Each age group includes about 10-20 students, who meet from 9:00 AM till 1:00 PM, three times a week. We aim to have the highest possible ratio of volunteers to students. We need at least 15 committed volunteers to come along our staff. Will you please consider volunteering your time to read with our students this summer? Volunteers can also teach art and games, read with students, or help with preparing and serving lunch. If you have even a few hours of free time each week, you can make a difference this summer.
